Willinga Park Equestrian Centre in Bawley Point, South Coast NSW
Willinga Park required a custom solution for treating and disposing of their wastewater that would accommodate thousands of spectators attending multiple large events each year, whilst also operating efficiently between events.
The wastewater solution also needed to be able to adapt to the growing needs of the business. Understanding the nature of the large events held at Willinga Park was crucial, and our solution has facilitated the large number of patrons attending events who partake in the food/drink options, such as restaurants and stay in their accommodation.
Surrounded by a lake, native bush, purpose-built dams and natural waterways, the environmental impact was a key factor to consider, requiring a careful scientific solution to how and where the wastewater was managed.
Discussions with and support of Council was vital to this project.
This was achieved through inclusive consultation, careful environmental considerations and working with the Council’s environmental team during the early design stage. It resulted in a solution that met everyone’s needs.
We delivered a scalable solution that efficiently managed current usage patterns, while futureproofing for growth. The large underground storage tanks provided enough capacity for expansion but the treatment plants themselves are scalable and the volume of wastewater being treated can be turned up or down. The sub surface irrigation fields are significant (15,000sqm) but not visible to the thousands of attendees that visit Willinga Park for their events.
Managed in real time, the IP-based SCADA monitoring system means we can monitor and adjust the entire operation remotely from a smartphone.

The wastewater from this site runs consistently 24 hours a day and includes high sediment from washing and showers, as well as black water from toilets. With 40 people on each 12 hour shift the wastewater load was consistent with no down time.
The mine operators are also very serious about environmental impacts and how to best manage the wastewater load across the farming land.
The requirement was to deliver a failproof solution with high quality water that would manage the wastewater challenge 24 hours a day.
The solution required early geotechnical consultation to determine where the wastewater could be distributed across grassed farming land, without impacting grazing sheep and cattle.
The FujiClean CE6000 commercial wastewater treatment plant provided a low maintenance solution capable of high 24 hour flow rates.
Combined with sturdy above ground irrigation and pump redundancy, the solution was delivered to budget and the operator's required timeframe.
Outward Bound Australia expeditions and camping in Tharwa, ACT
The requirement was to replace an ageing and failed concrete treatment plant built over 20 years ago on a site adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River, with a tight budget.
Being a non-for-profit organisation, Outward Bound required a cost effective solution for the capital investment as well as ongoing maintenance. Group accommodation provided a challenge, with short periods of high usage then long periods of low usage.
A FujiClean PCN20 with balance tanks was selected because we could amend the flow rate and dose the system depending on the volume of wastewater.
In the absence of a costly management system we installed pump redundancy, which provided lower monitoring costs but high security with a simple but effective alarm system.
The geotechnical consultation with Roberts Resources delivered a subsurface effluent irrigation field well away from the Murrumbidgee River with no disruption to camp facilities.
Termeil Petrol Station, NSW South Coast
An aging old-style septic system connected to public toilets and staff amenities required an urgent upgrade.
With a small amount of land to work with that had public access we delivered a discreet and compact solution with advanced secondary wastewater treatment, without compromising too much valuable land.
Working with the owners' local plumber, the solution was an evaporation bed for wastewater dispersal after high quality treatment through a FuiClean CE4000.
This was a compact and discreet system that continues to serve the public and staff with reliable wastewater management without comprising land use, and avoiding the high cost of a regular pump out service.
